Eyes on the Prize

I’ve really been eyeing brown riding boots, lately! I have two pairs in black, and am beginning to realize I really should invest in a brown pair! Although I have a cognac brown Coach shoulder bag, I would prefer a deeper brown boot. Ideally, I would love a pair of Tory Burch or Michael Kors… but I don’t think Hubby would like that much ;).

How gorgeous are these Tory Burch Aaden boots?? A girl can dream!

Red All Over

As a Houston Cougar, I’m already obsessed with red, but I’m truly falling even more in love with the large variety of shades it comes in! Lately, I love deep, sultry reds. Maybe it’s my inner vixen ;).

I found and purchased a gorgeous, red, fringe-y scarf that I am hoping I’ll be able to wear soon!

News!

Hubby and I have spoken very seriously about me going back to school this year. The university I’m interested in attending has an online program for the degree I want to pursue (M.Ed. in Educational Administration), so it’s totally doable! I absolutely need to have my masters so I can further myself in my career and achieve my goals in life.

On a personal note, because of my love for pretty nails, I’ve started selling Jamberry! I absolutely love the nail wraps – especially on my toes! With over 250 designs to choose from, my head is spinning with what choices to make, and I definitely feel like a kid in a candy store! If you’re a pretty nail enthusiast, check Jamberry out at my Jamberry Nails website! I know you’ll love them :).

And… Last but not least – how am I doing with my lifestyle change? Well.. I haven’t been working out. Like.. At all. BUT… my kiddos at work keep me moving all day long, so I don’t ever sit down or have a moment to relax. I’m on my feet and moving for a solid 8-10 hours a day Monday-Friday. As well as that, I’m still watching what I eat (but still treat myself when I feel like it). I know I’m not eating as healthy as I should be, but a LOT better than I used to before making a change. Since June 15th, I’ve lost 11.5 pounds! I’m so incredibly proud of myself. My family is starting to notice, and their comments keep me motivated to keep it up. I told my husband today, that I really feel like I could be in a bikini next year. As an adult, I’ve never felt comfortable enough with my body to wear anything other than a tankini out in public. The tankini has to be long enough to completely cover my midriff, and I prefer bottoms that are like short short bottoms.. so I can keep myself covered. I’m reallllllly hopeful that I can kick myself into gear again and start working out again so that I can comfortably flaunt my new body in a bikini next year. I guess this blog will help me keep myself accountable. I wrote it for you all to read, so now I have to stick to it, don’t I? (Please say yes! 😉)

Now for baby news…
Wouldn’t it be nice if I had some? All I have to say is that hubby and I are looking into possibly taking out a loan so we can apply for traditional adoption. I want the entire baby experience.. crying, diapers, and all! Fostering to adopt will not provide us with that experience. When we are ready for our second little one, I would love to follow through with fostering to adopt.

Until next time, friends!

As the Weather Cools

The cool winds that are beginning to blow in are such a relief from the heat we’ve been dealing with this summer and have me wishing I could already be dressing for cooler weather.

My only dilemma with cooler weather is what to dress my feet in! Having sensitive feet makes it so difficult to wear actual shoes! My feet have become totally accustomed to living in sandals, and I’m sure they are going to HATE me when I have to start stuffing them into shoes come winter time.

I know… I know… “Where comfortable shoes, you say!” I’ve tried nearly everything… My Tory Burch Reva flats hurt, my Coach flats begin hurting my pinkies after a few short hours, Clarks… The Walking Company… Born. They’re all great shoes (and definitely not inexpensive), but at the end of the day my feet are killing me and I can’t wait to kick off my shoes. In all honesty, when I do wear shoes, I actually end up being barefoot in my classroom for part of the day! I end my day  by hobbling to my car like an old woman.

Tennis shoes are comfortable… but come on, what tennis shoes look fashionable with a pair of slacks or a dress? None!

Someone save me my feet!

First Day Jitters!

Deciding what to wear on the first day of school is always tough. Especially if you’re the teacher!

A lot more goes into the “first day” outfit than you’d guess. As teachers, we want to come off as cool and fun… but we also want to appear professional (more so to our peers than to the kiddos).

This year, I decided the first day of school deserves to be dressed with fun! I wore a beautiful dress from Charming Charlie! The dress is knee length and navy blue. The style is very festive for summer, and fashionably mimics a Mexican puebla dress. The dress is accented with hot coral/pink lace, and is overall stunning. I paired my navy dress with a pair of gold Steve Madden sandals and a denim jacket.

This look was an overall comfortable look, while still remaining professional :).
